Tengo miedo

Italy in the 70s and 80s was a sick, unstable society plagued by corruption scandals, influenced by organized crime, and bloody attacks by radicals from both ends of the political spectrum, and it was characterized by a foolish public mood, frustrated by high unemployment and inflation. Policeman Graziano has long lost even the smallest illusions about the system he serves and tries to do only one thing - survive to retirement intact. The position of a personal bodyguard of a judge dealing with ordinary criminal offenses feels like the jackpot - this could be a solid safe haven that his colleagues would envy. And if it wasn't for Graziano's attentiveness and the judge's consistency combined with naivety, it might have worked out. However, it is not worth meddling with a hornet's nest, which represents the connection of the top secret services with the terrorist underworld. Graziano faces a murderous conspiracy and must show absolute presence of mind to avoid being eliminated. I am Afraid is one of the significantly better offerings in the genre. It relies on the excellent Volonté in the lead role and a quality screenplay that effectively sells the conspiracy and the desperate hero who perfectly fulfills the truth of the expression: just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you. The film missed out on the fifth star by only a hair due to two mistakes that a person who has shown so much tenacity, foresight, and will to survive should not have made. Overall impression: 85%.
