Dennis (Simon Pegg) es un tío normal. Está un poco gordo y fuma, pero es buena persona, encantador y sencillo. Sin embargo, hace cinco años, Dennis hizo algo que no estuvo bien. El día en que debía casarse con Libby (Thandie Newton), su novia embarazada, se dio a la fuga. No pudo seguir adelante con la boda. No se sentía merecedor de Libby, entonces decidió que en vez de arruinarle la vida, era mejor arruinarle su gran día. Hoy, cinco años después, Dennis se da cuenta de que ha cometido un gran error. Aún está enamorado de Libby. Aún la ve con frecuencia debido a Jake (Matthew Fenton), su hijo de cinco años, pero ya no existe ningún atisbo de romanticismo. Libby está saliendo ahora con Whit (Hank Azaria), un profesional encantador a quien Dennis detesta de manera inmediata. Whit es agradable, exitoso y muy bueno con Jake; lo que enfurece a Dennis aún más. ¿Cómo puede Dennis competir con él? En un último intento por demostrarle a Libby que ha cambiado de vida, Dennis anuncia impulsivamente en la fiesta de cumpleaños de Libby, que participará en el mismo Maratón de Londres para el que Whit se ha estado entrenando seriamente. ¿Le servirá a Dennis la energía que tuvo para escapar, para ganar ahora el maratón? David Schwimmer (Ross from "Friends") proved himself as a director in his home series and then also helped Matt LeBlanc with his spin-off "Joey", where he also directed a few episodes. "Run, Fatboy, Run" became his first feature film and it certainly is not a flop. But it's also not a film that would be considered genius. Honestly, it is well directed. Some jokes are delivered so well that I actually laughed out loud. Excellent British humor is combined here with American humor, where the British one is naturally superior. Simon Pegg cannot avoid scenes that are not that funny. There are some moments of silence in certain scenes, but it still has a pretty good direction. However, then the second half of the film and the race itself come into play. Here the film hits a snag, because it gets lost in waves of romantic craziness so typical for German films, which Czech TV stations inundate us with.
