It's amazing how important Wonder Woman is in the world of comics, and how little she has done with cinema. The 1960s and 1970s saw several attempts to portray her superhero career on television, the best of which was the live-action series starring Lynda Carter. After 2000, she returned as part of the Justice League cartoon series to establish herself in animated feature films thanks to the voice of Lucy Lawless. She appears alongside Batman and Superman on a regular basis, and this film is the only one that exclusively charts her adventures. Wonder Woman (2009) delivers the canonized basic story of the mythical Amazons who, after the war with Ares, went to the island of Themyscira, where they lived peacefully for a millennium in an all-female community. Queen Hyppolita's daughter, Diana, was destined to reunite her sisters with the world of men and fight a new battle with Ares... Dressed in the colors of the land in which she is about to have a new adventure, protected by the whip of truth, a magical headdress, and Athena's bracelets, she travels in her invisible plane to bring order back to the world and understand that all men are not enemies. Especially Steve Trevor. In retrospect, this origin story isn't as good as it could have been, but that doesn't change the fact that it's literally a prayed-for breakthrough. In 2017, the first live-action film starring Gal Gadot finally arrived, in 2019 the second animated original, and in 2020 we got Wonder Woman 1984. The icebergs are shifting. Comic book issue 750 will be out soon and there's still plenty to read :)

One of those slightly better cartoons based on comic book stories and featuring comic book characters. The advantage of this cartoon is that it can be watched without any knowledge of the comic, as Wonder Woman is introduced here. Moreover, it is quite funny, so you won't mind the sometimes really strange animation.
