inglés The Tom and Jerry feature film is not about Tom and Jerry, It's about a young girl who starts working at a hotel and had lied on her resume, and now sort things out, and two animated animals that show up from time to time and make a mess. The mess is pretty funny and Chloë Grace Moretz doesn't completely bore either, but everything else is unimaginative routine at best. And given that Tom and Jerry themselves are relegated to the background for whatever reason, I don't really know who the result might entertain or appeal to. Not me. ()

inglés As others have already written here, Tom and Jerry is not strictly about the "age-old battle of the buddies", but focuses equally, and sometimes even more, on the human characters. The problem is that most of these characters are poorly written and their performers don't really have much to work with – I was perhaps only more impressed by the "creepy" Joy played by Patsy Ferran. Many of the gags are ones we've seen before in earlier Tom and Jerry stories, so the film doesn't surprise much in that regard, and it's not helped by technological advances. But I don’t want to only complain, I commend the idea of creating all the animals in animation, but I could have done without the pigeons. ()

inglés In a movie called Tom and Jerry, which draws mainly on Tom and Jerry, Tom and Jerry should simply not play second fiddle. Moreover, their gags are mostly recycled from the shorts, and the animation in the scenes with humans is far from great. And the rest of the film, which revolves around Chloë Grace Moretz's character, is so boring. ()

inglés I feel like things have gotten a little out of hand here. I consider myself an advocate for animal rights, I long for the eradication of all racism from the face of the earth, and I long for gender equality in all corners of the world, but isn't it a bit extreme to see animal abuse in the decades of adulation of Tom and Jerry? I mean, that's exactly what I enjoyed about it as a kid. And I spent much of my childhood debating with myself over who was the bigger villain and who I was rooting for more. I wouldn't underestimate those kids. No one and nothing in the world is just good or evil, and to impose that eternal division between good and evil on (not just) children may be rather detrimental in the end. And if we're talking about violence done to CARTOON characters, then couldn't that be said of more or less every cartoon? Or, should cartoons be made at all? Feel free to enlighten me, argue with me, but when I read the reviews, I feel like I've lost my mind. 4 stars because I was finally back in the cinema after many months, and that alone made me jump for joy. And because I love Tom and Jerry. And because I loved the combination of live action and cartoon characters. And it was kind of funny, too. ()
