inglés A treasure. A showcase of bad to terrible filmmaking decisions and insane dialogues, but executed with such sincerity and verve that it actually reflects perfectly why we all love movies so much and why it's so tempting to be a part of them. A phenomenon called Tommy Wiseau, who under normal circumstances would be replenishing bananas in Tesco, a man without the slightest sign of talent or creativity, has created a work that generations of film fans will enjoy for its undisguised idiocy – and I confess to being one of them. Lisa is the greatest bitch, Mark the worst best friend, and Wiseau is the funniest actor in history; and coupled with dialogues that leave you speechless, or the truly unforgettably bad direction of actors who randomly and pointlessly appear and greet each other at every encounter, you just can't help but love The Room at least a little guiltily and sincerely. In terms of experience, at least 4*, in terms of quality, its Boo!, so I’m giving it a conciliatory 2*. ()

inglés I really don’t like it when people give ironic high ratings to bad films. At all. I don’t care about guilty pleasures, I just don’t like bad films by incompetent creators. I think they are offensive to those creators who at least try. But The Room is something else! If it had been made like this deliberately, I would be a brilliant comedy, but the fact that this is the result of a series of accidents and some kind of bizarre aliens can’t erase the positive emotions that I have from this “film”. No bullshit, I haven’t been so fascinated by a film in a long time, even if it is really bad, and how improbably bad it is sometimes, but still. ()

inglés Watching this surreal flick puts you in the position of a lab mouse, or a hamster, thrown into an aquarium with a king cobra. You loathe what you are looking at, but you are so hypnotized by the sight of the cobra that you just stare into its eyes in fascination until the snake swallows you. You can't take your eyes off this excrement, it has an undeniable charisma, as absurd as it sounds. It's like throwing a bunch of soap-operas, Red Shoe Diaries, a subtly conceived episode of Emanuelle, and the complete bibliography of Rosamunde Pilcher into a big blender and mixing it with tabloids and gossip magazines, spiced it up with Zdeněk Troška, Ovčáček, Turkish Star Wars and the nightly TV broadcasts of tarot readers on TV Barrandov, drinking this shit bottoms up, or drowning in it. I’ll watch this at least once more with my mates. PS: Thanks to the curators of The Shockproof Film Festival for the great titles! ()

inglés I believe that when you see this film in a full cinema of giggling people, for example, you will give it five stars without the slightest bit of remorse. I saw it by myself, so I often shook my head in disbelief at all the acting "performances", at what the characters spewed out of their mouths, and also at how many bed scenes can be crammed into the first half hour (I knew the breasts of the main character so intimately during that time that I feel like I also slept with her). I only laughed during the finale, during which I also realized a strange thing - the Room didn't bore me at all. ()
