Dino della Fiaba and Maria de Crevecoeur did not meet in Monte Carlo by chance. Both associated their lives with a life of luxury, conditioned by gambling. To live such a life, it is necessary to have sponsors. And if they run out, trickery comes to the fore. The two of them, however, became enchanted with each other, so in the end it was necessary to reveal the cards and say that neither of them exactly has money. The lovers thus became siblings and continued to set traps... At 55, Marlene Dietrich reached her cinematic peak and played her last leading roles. The Monte Carlo Story is a serene spectacle of a world full of yachts and billiards, unfolding in unmistakable compositions on a color widescreen. Dietrich was also the costume designer for Monte Carlo again, as she had been for most of her career. She worked with Jean Louis at the Columbia art studio, although this company had nothing to do with this film. She also directed the lighting and make-up artists, as was her custom.
