I started watching this anime because of the animation – so uncharacteristic in a world of big eyes, cool hairstyles, and colorful worlds. I liked the first episode, but after that I wasn't really into it until about episode 6 or 7, the story wasn't entertaining; except that then CLICK it all fell into place and suddenly I could to enjoy the series properly. Twelve episodes in, we're with a bunch of criminals, and it's nice that they're actually criminals: they steal, they kill, they kidnap (there's not the typical "even though I'm a criminal, I'm actually a good guy to the bone and wouldn't hurt a fly, I just live on the fringes of society"). The big positive of this series is definitely its characters; whether you're following Yaichi or the samurai who's afraid of his own sword. With no unnecessary moralizing, no unnecessary words, it leads you to a "sweet" ending and you suddenly realize that this is actually a story about friendship. ()
