Komt een vrouw bij de dokter tells the controversial story of a flashy advertising guy who does not believe in monogamy and keeps sleeping around even after his wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer. After Stijn marries Carmen, 'the hottest chick in Amsterdam' and becomes a father, he retains several girlfriends. Carmen accepts his behaviour, but when a lump in her left breast turns out to be malignant, their relationship is put under pressure by Stijn's 'polyamory'. Of all times, Stijn now begins a passionate relationship with artist Roos, who becomes an outlet and a surrogate wife for him. This adultery almost ends in divorce. Shortly after Stijn does choose for Carmen, the cancer has spread. The contrast between hominess and big-city life, the ignorance of his surroundings and unexpected hallucinations illustrate the conflict that tears Stijn up. (Nederlands Film Festival)
