Sinopsis(1)

What if the ghastly images and abominations haunting our collective nightmares actually exist? Filmmaker Adam Green receives a package in his fan mail from a mysterious man named William Dekker (Ray Wise, Twin Peaks, X-Men: First Class, Robocop) claiming that he can prove that monsters do indeed exist, insisting these grotesque creatures are forgotten, hideously deformed humanoids inhabiting a vast, underground metropolis of the damned. Determined to expose the truth, Green and his crew embark on a bone-chilling odyssey. As the lines between fantasy and reality are increasingly blurred, they are taken on a mysterious, fantastical, and terrifying journey into the shadows and deep down under the ground below our very feet when they dare to go Digging Up the Marrow. inglés One significant aspect I liked about the film Digging Up the Marrow is that it doesn't unnecessarily push the horror elements, and it doesn't strive to be a horror film at all costs, especially if it would detract from the impression that it's primarily meant to be a pseudo-documentary. That fact won out, and it's a good thing, ultimately leading to the film being believable as a mockumentary. For me, it’s simply one of the best films in this strange subgenre. ()

inglés If you’re looking for a scary horror mockumentary, you’re in the wrong place. Digging Up the Marrow is mostly a cute pseudo-documentary prank about people who make films and like monsters. It’s clear that they’ve made it themselves for the fun of it, and I had fun with them. You can see a lot of known faces of the genre, Adam Green plays himself and often fools around with his cameramen and other colleagues. – I wouldn’t use the same joke twice! – Ehm, have you seen Hatchet II? En the end I was beginning to get quite interested in the mystery about the underground gate to the realm of monsters (if it were to be taken seriously, it’s very naively presented, but nobody is taking it seriously), we get a couple of slightly atmospheric scenes, some jump-scares and rubber spooks. I like this type of meta film about the process of filmmaking, so I’m satisfied. ()
