Roland, un marino que ha hecho escala en Barcelona para reunirse con su mujer, descubre un cadáver en la habitación de al lado del hotel donde se hospeda. De repente es encerrado sin saber porqué en una clínica privada y un doctor le reclama una misteriosa maleta. Mientras, el vecino de cama le habla de una mariposa posada sobre su espalda. Roland escapa y busca a la policía. Cuando llegan a la clínica, el lugar está vacío pero encuentran un cadáver. Le acusan pero él sabe que no lo ha cometido. (texto oficial de la distribuidora)

The world of secret services, complex conspiracies, masonic lodges, and organizations operating in a sphere that dislikes unwanted eyes. The world of secret couriers, agents, informants, executioners, and their victims. One mistake, one unfortunate case of mistaken identity, and a witness who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time is not going to have much fun. Instead of fear of torture or death, they face fear of the unknown and get entangled in a strange labyrinth of incomprehensible intrigues, peculiar relationships, and conspiracies. Lino Ventura, who is sparing in his expression, is convincing even in this somewhat atypical role. However, I have a problem with the screenplay, which, in my opinion, succumbs too much to purposeless enigmatic elements. Moreover, Deray as director is not the best choice for having an absurd dark Kafkaesque atmosphere. Overall impression: 65%.

The great Lino Ventura, who wants to find the truth with his own determination, does not disappear from the screen even once during the hour and a half and the viewer knows (or rather does not know) only what he knows from the beginning to the end. And that atmosphere!
