Save the Date

This movie didn't seem like a romantic comedy, which is definitely a good thing. Sarah doesn’t exactly fit the American model of an ecstatic bride, unlike her sister Beth. I love both Lizzy Caplan and Alison Brie, so the film already scored points with me thanks to its cast. Plus, the plot wasn’t dumb, and, thankfully, there weren’t any scenes full of pathos with applause and a parade of allegorical floats at the end. All in all, the film was original, interesting, entertaining, and weirdly enjoyable. (28.07.2017)

Lizzy Caplan is absolutely amazing and every film with her is something... well, something I look forward to at least. In this case, I can't help but criticize the movie a bit. Yes, it's a romance, yes, it's portrayed differently than what we're used to in Hollywood, but the whole thing is somehow... It could be condensed into about five minutes, not necessarily an hour and a half of a film: Lizzy acts excellently, it's not her typical indie character, but she has an interesting perspective on the world. The problems being dealt with here are quite normal, which allows you to identify with them. It's good, but something is missing to make it captivating. (12.11.2013)
