Filmová výzva 2018 - Finlandia. Otro golpe fuerte del dios finlandés del cine, Aku Louhimies. En la República Checa se ha enfriado y me he ido de viaje de negocios a Helsinki, donde hace aún más frío, con nieve y hielo por todas partes. Y yo, loco de remate, he reservado el hotel más frío de la ciudad, ya que antes el edificio era una prisión. ¿Qué otra cosa iba a ver que no fuera el blues finlandés, para que tenga el simbolismo adecuado? No me sentí a gusto ni un solo minuto. Jessica Grabowsky es muy guapa y me impactó aún más cómo destruye su vida, actúa perfectamente. Eero Aho ya me impresionó en Orden, y una vez más no defraudó y hace una interpretación repugnante de manera brillante. El único personaje con el que no conecté fue el policía llorón e inepto, creo que podría calificarlo valientemente como innecesario. Una experiencia intensa - probablemente ya es la tercera película social consecutiva, en aras de mantener mi integridad mental, debo ver algún género más ligero. (05.03.2018)

I have to admit that I haven’t seen a properly depressing Scandinavian film for a long time, so 8-Ball made me quite happy in this respect. Somehow I knew what I was going into, but while I was lounging comfortably on my couch at the beginning of the film, the depression and stress flowing through my body kept me on edge from the middle of the film, so I had to sit up for it. What looked relatively innocent at first turned out into a quite brutal ride. And I have to admit that some scenes were really hardcore. Had it not been for the ending, I’d probably give it four stars. However, the ending showed what happens when you put together Finnish depression with brutal Finnish winter weather and a detective like from French crime movies from the 1970s. (08.10.2015)
