El apodado Príncipe del Petróleo está a punto de estafar al banco vendiéndoles unos inexistentes pozos de petróleo en el Lago Shelly. Sus planes se tuercen cuando un grupo de colonos se instala en las orillas del lago. Para quitarles del medio, sustituye al guía de los colonos por uno de sus esbirros. Pero pronto Winnetou y Old Surehand descubren sus intenciones y se enfrentan a él. (Prime Video)

It is a terribly simple film in which motifs from previous films are repeated, but the Petrol Prince is such a simple villain, treacherous and crooked, that you simply cannot help but accept this simple game of good and evil and just enjoy it. Surehand is a likeable character and Vinnetou is outstanding. This nostalgic reminiscence simply entertains me.

After the success of Treasure of Silver Lake the Germans started to make May’s film adaptations like on a treadmill. In 1965 alone they released eight. The Oil Prince is one of them, a sloppy film put together on a rush, just like the rest (with bright exceptions).
