Sinopsis(1)

Rosa comes to Japan to meet the renowned Master Kon, and wants him to teach her proper sushi preparation. The European's obstinate effort to fit into the Asian culture leads to tragicomic situations, but it also proves to be utterly counter-productive. The girl thus finds herself more and more often in incomprehensible and hopeless situations. The lyrical, emotive atmosphere of the drama authentically illustrates the loneliness of a stranger struggling with language and cultural barriers in an overpopulated Japanese city, and it does so with the same persuasiveness as the successful picture, Fear and Trembling (2003), which Alain Corneau directed from the novel by Amelia Nothomb. inglés I really liked the poetics the movie employs to tell its story in less than 90 minutes. In essence, not a lot was said in the movie because nobody spoke English and the protagonist had her hands full trying to get used to the Japanese nature. Nevertheless, in terms of comparing two different cultures, this movie is definitely worth seeing. ()
