A thoroughly enjoyable film based on the comic book "Superman: Brainiac." This is the second animated film where Supergirl gets a lot of space. We get her origin in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and here it's all about a fast flawless ride. ()
The animation is top-notch, but ultimately, it's nothing special. A story about Superman and how he saves the world. Hmm, I feel like even that isn't anything new. One thing that must be acknowledged about the film is that it's grittier than typical mainstream comics and there's bloodshed. Of course, that doesn't save the screenplay, which is quite transparent and relies heavily on assuming you know the mythology and that it will resonate with you. I know the mythology, but it definitely didn't resonate with me much. ()
