Five youths set out for a weekend camping excursion, to drink, frolic and skinny-dip on an isolated piece of land one of them has inherited. Despite ominous warnings of local forest Rangers, strange backwoods families and a hollering drunken hunter claiming to have witnessed his friends' evisceration by the hands of "DEMONS", they trek farther into the foliage. Just Before Dawn is definitely a film that doesn't deserve to be forgotten, even if it's not generally ranked among the most shocking and memorable slasher films made in the 1980s. Yet the film is made well and has to be given credit for that. The film manages to please with its redneck poetics, but there are some pretty good and dangerous people. A successful return to the 80s.
