Después de la muerte de su amada esposa Samantha (Cara Pifko) debido a un mal consejo proporcionado por un psíquico, el ateo Michael (Shane Johnson) dedice enfocarse en temas sobrenaturales como investigación para preparar su próxima película y así refutar la existencia de Dios y del Diablo. Para logarlo elige visitar diferentes personas que afirman haber participado en hechizos y conjuros. Comienza con Beverly (Dale Dickey), una psíquica que tiene una parte de culpa en la muerte de Samantha y que posteriormente participo en diferentes casos que implicaban fenómenos paranormales. Sin embargo, mientras Michael espera reafirmar su ateísmo, la obscuridad poco a poco ira apoderándose de él, y fuerzas sobrenaturales intentaran ejercer su influencia en él. (Gussi Cinema)

"The Possession of Michael King" is not a great movie, nor is it a captivating horror, but its execution makes it above average within the found footage genre. There are scenes that can scare you, but rather there are scenes that disgust you, and this is also a way in which horror can work. As someone who is skeptical of found footage, this is one of those shining examples that shows it can be done differently and somewhat innovatively.

David Jung’s début, The Possession of Michael King, is another addition to the growing family of mockumentaries about possessions, not exactly J*A*S*M’s favourite sub-genre. After the spooky stories of James Wan (the tales of the Warrens), the horrors of Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), and the activities of Orren Peli, the Community of Horror Fans is saturated with the trend in modern spooky stories. But, overall, The Possession of Michael King, father of Ellie King and husband of Samantha King, is an example of solid horror and also a reminder of the excessive use of that silly attribute in the form of a name that says nothing in the title of a horror film. The Demon of Ferdy the Ant is cool.
