Thomas Kaiser (Peck) inherits an ancestral mansion that has been in his family for generations -- only to learn that he has also inherited an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. Even though it's not a film I would call great, I can't help but appreciate the fairytale-like dark atmosphere that is built in it. It's not polished to perfection like in the film Pan's Labyrinth, but there's more than just hints of it here. It's a pity it's not even more horror, as that would have made the film better.
