Another endearing affair with Colleen Moore once again playing a woman who wants more out of life. The basic situation is fine, she works at a mattress shop window and thus wins the favor of the whole crowd. She points out the various benefits of lying on branded mattresses with the help of funny advertising signs. But when she jumps up to the chandelier in joy at the visit of a newly rich friend and it deservedly falls down along with her, she is fired. So what now? At home awaits her an exhausted mother, father, and two hungry mouths to feed... Irene's journey must become a success. She does flirt with social kitsch, but it's not that bad. The other direction of the film is purely modern, emancipatory, and flapper. If I was disconcerted in certain parts, it gets better as soon as Irene becomes a mannequin. And then the fashion show takes place entirely in Technicolor, which is intoxicating. (14.06.2013)
