The Red Couple is a historical and political love drama that tells the story about Hertta Kuusinen and Yrjö Leino. This love story swells with passion, devotion and betrayal and is about two people who began at the grassroots but who became full-time top politicians. Both were imprisoned for communist activism in the years before the Second World War broke out. After the war ends they quickly climb through Finnish politics to the absolute heights. During their nine-year relationship they, backed by a powerful Soviet Union, manage to change Finnish politics for good. (Göteborg Film Festival)
