Sin abandonar una cierta tendencia al realismo social más crudo, La región salvaje coquetea de forma fascinante e inesperada con lo fantástico. A través de un triángulo amoroso, el film hace emerger el machismo y la homofobia en una comunidad marcada por la presencia secreta de un alienígena tentacular. El ser venido del espacio exterior es capaz de provocar un placer sexual tan absoluto como liberador, abriendo las puertas a esa dimensión abismal de nuestro ser que nos atrae tanto como nos atemoriza. The Mexican film The Untamed is a treat for connoisseurs who will look for a lot of meanings in it, and they will be sure that the film has major overlap. Perhaps it does. It's just that even though there is a monster, and even though there are social issues, I will still remember from this film how intrigued I was by the fact that the main character has small breast areolas. I suppose I was expecting a bit more from it.
