Durante un hermoso día de otoño, en un idílico rincón campestre de Vermont, se oyen tres disparos, y aparece un cadáver, el de Harry. Un viejo capitán que cree que se trata de un accidente de caza del que se siente responsable, entierra, desentierra y transporta varias veces el cadáver sobre cuya identidad se interrogan con perplejidad una solterona, un médico miope y un pintor abstracto. Aproximadamente la mitad del metraje de la película está repleta de escenas de humor negro inteligente y sutil que hoy ya no vemos en ningún lugar. Una preciosidad. Pero la segunda mitad del metraje está llena de escenas tan sordas como un tocón de árbol. En conjunto, es una película relajante poética y agradable con un toque distintivo de dirección, pero que no perdurará en la memoria durante mucho tiempo.

One hour would have been enough. Then nothing could have stopped me awarding a full five stars to this cynical Hitchcock movie. But after the initial barrage of entertaining, keen-edged dialogs (the scene on the veranda with Sam, Jennifer and her crazy son is so ingeniously written that it can’t be described in words), the humor drops off considerably. It is replaced by a bizarre, but unfortunately already hackneyed Hitch movie about a body that keeps on moving about. Over and over. A huge shame that the Master didn’t sow more seeds of black humor here. What resulted from that would certainly have certainly done no harm to his filmography. The Trouble with Harry is cynical... proof of that. P.S.: Herrmann’s “jocular" musical theme is reason alone to watch Harry.
