Los sobornados

Una delicada película de crimen sobre un policía que se atreve a destruir a la élite del sindicato mafioso que tiene amigos en la política. Inteligentemente escrito, rápido, en algunos lugares narrado brevemente y dinámicamente, con un elenco brillante. No sorprende que la película haya convertido a Glenn Ford en una estrella. Su héroe humanamente simpático pero como vengador bien estricto e intransigente es una contraparte equilibrada de los gánsteres repulsivos que provocan ansia. El encuentro de sus mundos clava al espectador en el asiento. La ubicación de una variedad de personajes femeninos en la historia, desde una encantadora esposa, pasando por la viuda en búsqueda de un marido súper rico hasta las «compañeras» de mártires (una de las cuales juega un papel clave en la historia), también es quirúrgicamente precisa. Una obra maestra de Hollywood, cuyo tema está cerca de, por ejemplo, Payback de Brian Helgeland. (25.08.2014)

Proper craftsmanship, but without the stylistic ambitions that Hitch or Billy Wilder were able to add to their films (and Lang himself doesn't fall short here either). Thanks to the breakneck pace and distinctive, reasonably motivated characters, however, it’s probably the absolute prototype for the bloody tales of private revenge that Hollywood still loves to this day. Glenn Ford is an exemplarily charismatic tough guy and Gloria Grahame a memorably unbound femme fatale. 85% (05.06.2018)

Fritz Lang became a master of film noir not only in the United States of America, but it is beautifully demonstrated in the movie "The Big Heat." Excellent characters, perhaps all of them, and a great story that starts with an excellent scene where it is not clear who actually killed the policeman and what happened, and then only a harsh unraveling, where nobody can be sure how it will actually end.
