The Mandalorian

A great western-style offering from the Star Wars universe. Likeable characters who just don’t mess around, excellent action and quality special effects. Little Yoda and Eyegee-Eleven rule this series. A new Mandalorian is in training for the next season. (28.12.2019)

This hard-hitting western-style snack is a perfect introduction to this world. I have a feeling that some of the scenes are there simply in order for some of the characters to reveal some essential information about the situation in the galaxy. Visually perfect, good music… (13.11.2019)

The Child is awesomely cute! An episode with a minimum of dialogs, packed full of action and practical and impractical (i.e. digital) special effects. I can’t help thinking that none of these episodes will be more than 40 minutes long. Which I find agreeable. (16.11.2019)

With this performance, Baby Yoda is bound to have a spin-off. In terms of concept, it’s beginning to remind me of Firefly. Flying this way and that, dealing with problems western style. Episode four borrows heavily from the Magnificent Seven. The great AT-ST action, warrior training and humorous interludes with the baby all score an A grade. Favreau is a blessing for Star Wars. The Mandalorian retains its allure and also manages to go deeper into the individual characters. Through slow and gradual revelation, Favreau raises the bar so high that the end faithful fans may well find themselves with a dislocated jaw. The special effects are comparable to ones in the world of movies, in a good way and a bad way. Some of the episodes are pure fan service, featuring favorites like Boba and Ashok. The powerhouse of the series is the silent Grog and I wonder what The Mandalorian will be like when he leaves the series. (18.12.2020)

A classic western opening using Fett as a lure. Favreau succeeded in increasing the budget and makes a bow to Dune. There are more special effects and they a done better. It doesn’t move forward much in terms of story, but horizons broaden nicely. Baby Yoda in the urinal is just great. (01.11.2020)

Soup vs. baby Yoda, cephalopod vs baby Yoda. It seems that Yoda has been rightly punished for his love of gobbling eggs, which caused some controversy. The story moves forward significantly and it was a delight to hear references to the Jedi and Darksaber. (14.11.2020)

The name suits him... An episode stuffed full of chopped up people and other things with a laser sword. A dirty, gloomy planet and a western-style duel at the end? I love this stuff. Although some of the decisions and twists seem rather bizarre, but when you see Grogu with the silver ball, or sleeping in a hammock, you forget all about that. (27.11.2020)

The Wages of Fear. The straightforward infiltration into the imperial canteen impresses most with a ride with the equivalent of nitroglycerin on the hood. It's already clear that they'll save some of Grogu’s training for the next series. (13.12.2020)

The slow exposition, the placement of the pieces on the chessboard, up to the masterful final double section, which is unmatched in terms of momentum. Great use of Bo and gaining respect for Mando. The attempt to be episodic struggles a bit with the larger story, but it all comes together nicely in the end. And there’s also the great Grogu, already riding on confidence and showing that he made the right choice. Excellent ending! (19.04.2023)
