Tras participar en el ensayo de su grupo de música, el mejor amigo de Zeke (Michael Abbott Jr.) y Earl (Andre Hyland) muere sin motivo aparente, por lo que sus compañeros deciden no contarle a nadie lo que ha sucedido. Claro que su empresa es difícil: las noticias vuelan en un pequeño pueblo de Alabama, y estos chicos no son precisamente unos expertos a la hora de cubrir sus huellas. Las autoridades aún no han podido identificar el cadáver, pero la mujer de Zeke y su hija comienzan a sospechar que algo huele a podrido. Y no es precisamente Dick (Daniel Scheinert). (Filmin)

Dick Long is dead. That’s what the police knows at the beginning. His two imbecilic friends, Earl and Zeke, helped him die. That’s what the viewer knows at the beginning. So, a police investigation is launched and those two morons try to sweep the tracks leading to them, and they are not very good at it. At this stage, it’s already OK and funny, but suspiciously normal for my beloved A24… But everything in time. There’s a certain moment after which I didn’t know whether to openly laugh or to say “Jesus, not that!”. It’s like a crime comedy by the Coen brothers, but with a turn into a weird territory where the Coens wouldn’t dare. Recommended with care.
