Only white doves were missing for John Woo to use all his usual trademarks within nine minutes. A flawlessly arranged city ride, in which Woo mainly works with the camera and brings back memories of his classic arrangements of action car chases. Plot-wise, Hostage may wander around the dry average, but we already know that it can work miracles.

I have to give it five stars, I just have to. For Woo's slowdowns, for the cuts from the revolver drum to the spinning wheel and back, for the flying BMW, for the gradual elimination of police cars, for the stop on the raised bridge... Awesome race with time, awesome Hire.
