Poirot's compatriot, famous film star Marie Marvelle, shows him letters demanding the return of her magnificent diamond the 'Western Star'. Despite Poirot's protests, Marie is determined to keep hold of the diamond so that she can wear it at a weekend house party at Yardley Chase. The Adventure of the Western Star is one of the more mediocre cases of the mustachioed Belgian. Personally, I find that most episodes that only involve stealing and escaping are qualitatively weaker than those that involve murder (my subjective opinion). A plus point would be the line with Poirot's chops and his fan obsession with a Belgian star, whom of course only he knows.

It's a bit cluttered piece and in the end, there might be a slight disappointment because it's actually a story about nothing, which is a shame as it's not perfectly concluded. I was still expecting that there would be something little there. The truth, however, remains that even so, it is quite good and it captivates with how people can sometimes manipulate themselves.
