After a mystery fire at his factory, businessman Sir Rueben Astwell decides to file the details of his newly discovered compound at home. Astwell's ambitions to cash in on the possible war with Germany are thwarted when he is bludgeoned to death in his study. Despite failed attempts to hypnotise Poirot, Miss Lemon's new skill helps to solve this baffling case of murder and revenge - as well as helping Hastings to achieve a hole-in-one on the golf course. Once politics comes into play somewhere, it's not as interesting to me anymore, but in the case of Poirot, it doesn't bother me that much. When you make someone out to be a dead person who was quite nasty, you almost feel like they deserved it. The investigation is quick, interestingly conducted, but you still can't help but feel that this is one of the less captivating episodes. At least it's somewhat amusing at times.
