Adaptación de una comedia de Shakespeare. El Príncipe Don Pedro de Aragón (Denzel Washington) regresa victorioso de una batalla acompañado de su hermano bastardo Don Juan (Keanu Reeves), de Benedicto (Kenneth Branagh) y de Claudio (Robert Sean Leonard), un joven florentino que ha sido colmado de honores por el gran valor mostrado en el campo de batalla.
