inglés Now and then it was very useful to let Vávra deal with a big topic in Czech cultural history. Through his care, he allowed many professions to develop, as well as great sets and costumes, and he gave the opportunity for actors to have mature acting performances. As a marionette player, he resurrected one of the most important myths of Czech literature of the second half of the 19th century. Of course, the nature of the fact that the whole love affair between Světlá and Neruda has survived only in fragments and copies has given rise to a whole range of interpretations and bending, and in every age, a new opinion and argument has arisen about what actually happened between these great writers, when exactly, and how it affected their work (and lives). Vávra is not afraid of anything; he makes meaningful use of the marginal fact that Neruda never read Světlá's last letter and that Světlá kept the ashes of the letters she sacrificed her marriage to Mužák as a souvenir.
