The Tanner family is an average American family. One day, they discover that they have a visitor. He's small, he's furry, he's arrogant, and he's an alien from the planet Melmac. Unsure what to do, they name him ALF: Alien Life Form. Alf soon decides that as much as he misses his home planet, there's a lot to be said for Earth: the Tanners are willing to concede anything as long as he doesn't announce his presence. A pretty solid sitcom with an excellent and funny Alf. However, the incredibly annoyingly unlikeable Tanner family, with whom he has taken up residence, brings the rating down to mediocre levels. It’s like Married with Children, but for kids.

The quality perhaps fluctuates quite a bit in the later episodes, but this remains one of the funniest and most successful American sitcoms ever to hit our TV screens. The cuddly and gluttonous alien ALF is an incredibly adorable character that everyone will instantly love, and his complicated coexistence with an ordinary American family is always guaranteed to entertain. From the point of view of the Czech viewer, I must also mention the phenomenal dubbing by Ota Jirák, which adorns Alf beautifully and is certainly much better than the Slovak one. Gone are the days when I used to sit through it every day, but even after all these years I always enjoy watching Alf again. When people travel to space, I want to visit Melmac at any cost :-)
