Zdeněk Liška's depressing music wonderfully completes the gloomy atmosphere of the story about two troublemakers who want to disappear from the face of the earth, inadvertently find each other, and then go on the run together. Roman Skamene took on his first role as little Sasha with such verve that he has probably never acted better. And Ivan Vyskočil, as the older, experienced guy who more or less helped him along the way, also showed off in full swing here. The ending could have been a bit more polished, but it is still a very good film. (75%)

Filip Renč played the eleven-year-old Jakub really well. The film itself may not be surprising, but the performances of everyone involved elevate it so much that I don't even mind it that much. The story has a very realistic and believable impression, and it has something to say even today. (70%)

The cool soundtrack contributes a lot to the pleasant atmosphere that accompanies the plot. I'm definitely not one of those who would enjoy reading "Fifty Shades of Whatever", but mostly thanks to the music, the likable cast, and the occasional flashes of easily digestible situational humor, this comedy was quite good. However, it should be noted that the film is particularly appealing to women of mature age who are trying to live life to the fullest and with gusto. (60%)

I'm not sure which of the girls can be considered a genius friend, but I'm convinced from the bottom of my soul that the piano music that accompanies this compelling tale of a complicated lifelong friendship is what is genius. Composer Max Richter enchanted me with his beautiful music so much that he rightfully has an honorary place in my top list. The second season of the series is absolutely comparable in quality to the first season. In two mono-dramas, the fates of two severely tested girlfriends are explored. Although the role of the narrator is given to Elena, the audience learns two versions of the truth and thus comes face to face with the accounts of the two women, which are certainly not just black-and-white probes into poverty-ridden Neapolitan society. There is a lot of discord between dreams and reality or between love and hate, which characterizes the Italian way of life quite accurately.

I'm very relieved that I'm not the only one who is confused about this film. Unlike most reviewers, however, I was quite interested in the story of writer Tom Ricks, and I'll be quietly pondering what I saw for some time to come. The disturbing mental ambivalence of the protagonist and the very telling last shot of the film invite this. (75%)

The shy brunette Naïma, played by Mina Farid, seemed natural and quite sympathetic, only I didn't understand what her plastic cousin Sofia was so enchanted by. Benoît Magimel may have aged a bit, but he can still act, and you have to hand it to him. It’s too bad he didn't get more space. The desperately superficial coming-of-age story was carried on the shoulders of the female caricature Zahia Dehar, which simply couldn't turn out well in the end. However, I must praise the soulful music, which pleasantly complemented the summer mood of the film. (45%)

The opening half-hour was pretty much about nothing, but once the central couple boarded the plane, the real drama began. I could hardly breathe with excitement. The script wasn't very good, but there were some good ideas and I wasn't bored at all. I must admit, however, that the pile of nonsensical situations made my head spin many times. (55%)

What attracted me the most was the dense and oppressive atmosphere of the harsh north underlined by the excellent music. The dark romantic story shrouded in mystery also appealed to me a lot and the ethereal wild woman Marie was likable from the start, so despite some reservations about the horror ending, I rate the film quite highly. (70%)

The sequel to the cult Czech film Snowdrops and Aces didn't turn out as badly as the reviews here might suggest. Watching the fates of the aging high school students, I felt a strange nostalgia that I quite enjoyed in combination with the good mood-setting music. However, my impression was a bit spoiled by the sometimes rather immature acting of Jan Antonín Duchoslav, and unfortunately, Eva Jeníčková wasn’t very good either. I could have also done without the lines from the original film, as here they feel a bit inappropriate given the age of the main characters. (55%)

Thanks to well-observed situations and apt dialogues, the creators managed to perfectly outline a Christmas party when a large family meets regularly only during the holidays, for the rather common reasons that there are unresolved disputes and years of grievances between its members. The conversational dramedy That Time of Year has a very bitter flavor in many ways, but the protracted vicissitudes with cabbage lighten the heavy moments. (75%)
