A lethal assassin for a secret Chinese organisation, who sheds tears of regret each time he kills, is seen swiftly and mercilessly executing three Yakuza gangsters by a beautiful artist. She is captivated by the grace of his kill and later falls in love with him. An intense power struggle for the leadership of the Yakuza Clans ensues as they seek vengeance for the death of their leader. Crying Freeman: Los paraísos perdidos sigue los pasos de las series eróticas nocturnas de la televisión convencional en cuanto a poética formal y «profundidad» de contenidos. Lo único que la mantiene a flote son las bonitas escenas de lucha, que irónicamente encajan bastante bien en la poética ralentizada y onírica de la película.

It's kitsch like crazy, the dialogue is hell, no one can act (even that avatar of anti-acting, Rae Dawn Chong, makes an appearance) and it contains probably the slowest sex scene in cinema history. A classic movie ruined by a woman. Otherwise, the action is spectacular and the shooting of a mob boss in front of a police building is pretty cool.
