La matanza de Texas III

Unsurprisingly, Hooper’s first part still leads by a long margin (it couldn’t be otherwise, it’s one of the best horror movies ever), but this sequel is not that bad. The atmosphere is thick, the swamps and the dark forest work really well, and the occasional dark humour doesn’t hurt, either. Except for the ending, when “dead” characters reappear happily alive of nowhere, I’m very satisfied. (27.04.2010)

Unlike the disastrous black-humoured second film, this sequel sticks to the tried-and-tested horror formula, which is pure B-movie in all its twists and turns and more or less in its execution, but it has the reverberating 1980s feeling of unpretentiously fun and properly bloody slasher films and you just don't get bored. I liked the setting in gloomy misty forests, some really juicy violence and a few good directorial ideas (I was especially impressed by the fake continuity of view between the pursued and Leatherface at one point). In contrast, I was madly irritated by the impossible behaviour of all the characters, the terribly stupid dialogues and the ridiculous invulnerability of the players, who are not prevented from entering a scene even after having their heads smashed in. In short, it's an average genre film, although the outdatedness of the premise is already very apparent. 50% (01.05.2017)

La matanza de Texas 3 es una secuela muy aburrida por obligación, en la que se puede predecir de vez en cuando lo que va a pasar en la trama en cinco minutos, y luego pasa de verdad. Solo se vuelve divertido cuando aparece el carismático y genial Ken Foree, que aporta un poco de aire fresco a un espectáculo que, de otro modo, sería completamente esquemático (como el exagerado Dennis Hopper de la segunda película). El final de la película, que parecía ignorar todo el acto anterior y devolver a la pantalla a los personajes que ya habían terminado, se sentía como un cierre ilógico. Aunque no lo esperaba, lo disfruté aún menos que el extravagante Hooper en la segunda entrega. Qué demonios, La matanza de Texas solo hay una, auténtica e intensa. (13.05.2020)

I consider the third part of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" series to be slightly better than Hooper's second part, which simply did not entertain me. This is a classic survival with black humor, which works quite well. The film doesn't surprise, but the acting performances are such that they won't discourage you. It's the kind of movie that doesn't excite, but at the same time it doesn't disgust you just by watching it. The average rating fits best here. (13.11.2014)
