La USS-Enterprise se encuentra explorando el espacio, cuando recibe la noticia de que se ha detectado la presencia de un Cubo Borg dirigiéndose hacia la Tierra. El Alto Mando de la flota ordena a Picard que se dirijan a la Zona Neutral para el caso de que los romulanos decidan aprovechar la situación y ataquen a la Federación. Pero en realidad el Alto Mando desconfía de que Picard ayude al enemigo, debido a su anterior asimilación en el colectivo Borg. Cuando la Tierra es atacada y la flota no puede hacer frente a la amenaza, Picard desoye las órdenes y se enfrenta al Borg, liderando la flota en el ataque. El cubo Borg es destruido, pero una pequeña porción escapa y genera un túnel temporal hacia el pasado hasta el año 2063, con el fin de evitar que el Dr. Zefram Cochrane realice el primer viaje a velocidad de curvatura, y contacte con la primera raza extraterrestre. Picard y su tripulación deberán viajar al pasado para restablecer el tiempo y hacer frente a la amenaza Borg en el pasado. (Universal Pictures España)

The best Next Generation film that mixes all the quality of Star Trek – a riveting plot (which is usually guaranteed by the Borg), excellent effects, good acting performances and an unmistakable sense of humor, this time backed up by the character of the brilliant schmuck Cochran, who ironizes all of Star Trek with his catchphrases and behavior. Frakes has done a top-notch job of making high-quality science fiction that can also lean on the complex world of Star Trek. Moreover, it will amuse even those who otherwise do not enjoy this world... and Jerry's baton? I kiss, I bow, the central melody is such concentrated pathos that I love it as soon as I hear it. For me, the absolute first-class ticket among the galactic first class stars. Whoopee!

No cautious tapping and cuddling with the ship. Frakes starts off at full throttle from the very beginning, and so far the darkest Trekkian script (Moore's pre-Galactic manuscript is dreadfully evident) is transformed into a captivating spectacle. Thanks to this, the Borgs do not appear in any way ridiculous, and the same crew that was almost annoying in the previous film suddenly functions as a plot guide. Perhaps only the earthly teasing with the drunken Cromwell could have been less. Otherwise, together with The Voyage Home, it is certainly the peak of the series, and it is no coincidence that this happens again during time-playing with Earth.

Good episode with a solid villain, interesting new characters, but for me it's still an episode that I couldn't fully connect with. As a sci-fi and as a movie, it's very good, but I just don't have that kind of relationship with the characters and I'm not able to build it properly. As a movie, it's good, but it won't be a favorite.
