inglés One of the best films of French cinematography of the 90s and undoubtedly the best film performance by Isabelle Adjani. A costly costume epic set during the religious wars between Huguenots and Catholics in the 16th century. A historical drama full of intrigue and plot twists, with high-quality cinematography, well-chosen exteriors, and decorations. Historically somewhat inaccurate and romanticized, but most viewers won't mind. The shots of the bloody bath of the St. Bartholomew's Night are vivid and fascinating. Adjani in a Renaissance gown is irresistible, but alongside her, Daniel Auteuil excels as an actor, as do dozens of other top-notch actors. Overall impression: 95%. ()
