A pesar de ser medio hermanos, Michael y Bruno son totalmente diferentes. Solo tienen en común una madre que nunca se ocupó de ellos y que les dejó al cuidado de sus abuelas paternas para seguir pasándolo bien. Michael es un biólogo molecular introvertido que no parece interesarse por otra cosa que no sea la investigación genética. Bruno es esclavo de sus fantasías sexuales y paga por hacerlas realidad. Toco cambia cuando los dos descubren el amor a los treinta y muchos. Michael reencuentra a Annabelle su novia de la infancia, y Bruno conoce a Christiane que comparte sus obsesiones sexuales y disfruta con ellas. La suerte parece sonreírles por fin, pero el destino les juega una mala pasada: las dos mujeres enferman gravemente de pronto. Aturdidos por la noticia, Bruno y Michael deberán enfrentarse a la realidad y decidir si vale la pena vivir una delicada relación con sus parejas o si prefieren regresar a la soledad anterior. Los alemanes saben hacer películas malditamente buenas, nuevamente esto se confirma, aún más considerando que se trata de una adaptación cinematográfica de una novela francesa, lo cual personalmente considero extremadamente difícil, especialmente cuando la película se basa en una novela de un autor de nacionalidad diferente a la del director y los actores. Bravo, un elenco de actores fuertes, encabezado por la pareja Bleibtreu/Gedeck. Una historia interesante y poderosa que me atrapó desde el principio y no me soltó.

Indeed, libido is truly the main driving force behind the motives of both main characters, although it manifests itself differently in each, and it is skillfully accompanied by another well-known psychiatric maxim in the style of "Tell me about your mother." From the subsequent ferment, two personalities emerged, from whose comparison it may seem that the rational and objective approach to the sexuality of the scientist-brother prevails rather than the sexual passion bordering on the obsession of the teacher-brother. Can this statement be made even after watching the final minutes of the film?

An interesting psychological drama filmed in a way that everyone can choose their own interpretation and interpret the message of the film in their own way. Some of the motifs didn't resonate with me, but others more than made up for it. The film's strength lies in the casting of German stars who have contributed to the rise of German cinema in the last decade. Interesting characters, casual dialogues about somewhat crazy problems, and sexual openness that may have ventured into controversial positions if it were made by another director and screenwriter. It is the story of two stepbrothers, their reconciliation with an unscrupulous and selfish narcissistic mother, and their search for happiness and a suitable partner. Overall impression: 75%. For me, the film fluctuates between comically lightened and tragically exposed.
