En Palestina, año 1.000 antes de Cristo, los judíos están dirigidos por un fornido damita llamado Sansón, un judío revolucionario que quiere casarse con Semadar, hija de una noble familia filistea. Pero su hermana pequeña Dalila, es la que está realmente enamorada de Sansón. A pesar de la rivalidad entre sus pueblos y la oposición familiar se celebra el matrimonio, pero en plena boda se desencadena un baño de sangre y Semadar muere. Dalila promete vengar su muerte. Sansón, evitando a Dalila, forma una guerrilla y con su fuerza lucha contra la armada. Pero Dalila, ahora jefa de Saran de Gaza, cree que puede descubrir el punto débil de Sansón que le haga perder su increíble fuerza. (Paramount Pictures España)

Hedy Lamarr's debut in a color film was the highlight of her Hollywood career. As the biblical Delilah, she foreshadowed for many years everything important for all the other beauties of the biblical epics that became so typical of the 1950s. The question is if Hedy had gotten to color film sooner, whether it would have had any effect on the current view of her legend, which seems to have fallen, quite unfairly, halfway between Elektra and Metro. In the end, it was during the filming of Samson and Delilah that Cecil was visited by Norma Desmond herself... if only she could have passed her magic on.
