Tras décadas de feliz matrimonio, Harry (Chris Cooper) decide que debe asesinar a su mujer Pat (Patricia Clarkson) porque la ama demasiado como para permitir que sufra cuando él la abandone, ya que se ha enamorado de la joven viuda Kay (Rachel McAdams), que a la vez es cortejada por el mejor amigo de Harry, Richard (Pierce Brosnan). Mientras Harry prepara sus planes de asesinato, los otros personajes están ocupados con sus propias traiciones. Como Harry, se dejan llevar por sus pasiones, que chocan con su moralidad, bien intencionada pero deshonesta al mismo tiempo. (Versus Entertainment)

This is an exemplarily bad retro film that is the answer to the current sporadic genre forays into the late 1940s - a time, the story tries to tell us, in which murder was apparently more bearable than divorce. This is a very odd thesis in and of itself, don’t you think? Add to that the bad acting performances, led by Rachel McAdams, who did not act authentically even in the much more successful The Notebook, and the unbelievable and very cheap set design, we are left with a ridiculous attempt at atmosphere and downright uninteresting music.
