The Nines

Tráiler

Sinopsis(1)

The Nines consists of three short films, each featuring the same actors in different ó and sometimes overlapping ó roles. Together, three stories form a single narrative that explores the relationships between author and character, actor and role, creator and creation. Alternately funny and unsettling, The Nines is like a riddle where the answer is the question: "How does it all add up?" "The Prisoner" tells the story of a troubled television star (Reynolds) who finds himself under house arrest, with his chipper publicist (McCarthy) and his disillusioned next-door neighbor (Davis) providing his only links to the outside world. Mysterious events lead him to question whether one or more of the women are deceiving him about the nature of his incarceration. "Reality Television" is a half-hour episode of "Behind the Screen," a Project Greenlight-style documentary series tracking the process of creating a network television drama. "Knowing" finds an acclaimed videogame designer (Reynolds) and his wife (McCarthy) facing car trouble deep in the woods. Their daughter (Elle Fanning) uncovers information which leads to a difficult and irrevocable choice. (texto oficial de la distribuidora)

inglés A mysterious thriller/drama with brilliant performances and direction that captivated me with its original and sophisticated story. It makes you think about the events on screen both during the film and after it has finished because, even though the twist is easy to understand (if you’ve been paying attention), you won’t be able to put together all the details and make the small connections until later. It’s made for people who don’t mind thinking about a film and coming up with their own interpretation of its final outcome. Those who like soap operas, for instance, shouldn’t even try, it would only lower the rating. ()

inglés A smart and well shot and written film with great actors. Definitely not for everyone, but worth checking out. ()

inglés Hmm, a bit of that Monday morning reflection didn't hurt, thankfully. I saw an interesting film that from the beginning just kept hinting and getting more and more convoluted, only to unpack it all in the last ten minutes. And the makers of The Nines didn’t do a bad job at all. It was too bad about the second of the three stories, which bored me slightly. Either it should have been shorter or more should have happened in it, but otherwise it was essentially fine. The actors are good, the music was nice to listen to, the direction is not epic and it doesn't help itself with great effects, and yet that is what makes it all the more impressive. Three and a bit. inglés The whole movie has a quite interesting idea, which sometimes transforms into a rather Lynchian style, but as it turns out, this is not such an impenetrable film. On the contrary, even though Ryan Reynolds can be a rather repellent character, some people are bothered by him on principle, he once again proves to me that when he wants to and has a good director, he can play interestingly. This was also confirmed in the movie "Nines", which, for its interesting atmosphere, tension, and yet a certain human concept, caught my attention to some extent. It's not a great film, it's not a film that influenced my life, but I watched it with at least some enthusiasm. ()
