Dejando claro que Neon Genesis Evangelion es un icono indiscutible de la animación japonesa no podemos sino alegrarnos de que el gran Hideaki Anno, su creador, haya decidido 'reconstruir' un proyecto que se inició en 1995 como serie de televisión y que ha seguido dando que hablar durante más de una década. Este juggernaut de la ciencia ficción animada, de inacabables ramificaciones filosóficas, espirituales y humanas, regresa a la gran pantalla bajo forma de una espectacular tetralogía de la que Evangelion 1.0 es su primer capítulo. Tokyo-3 vuelve a estar bajo la amenaza de los Ángeles y Shinji y Rei volverán a enfundarse el traje de Eva. (Savor Ediciones)

The story of a whiny 14-year-old kid who doesn't know what he wants or why he wants it, who gets put in a mecha and wham, go save the world. The boy goes, even though he's never driven a mecha. Why wouldn't he? As long as his papa watches and acknowledges his existence. And shows him love. So we have the existential problems of a 14-year-old and the existential problems of all of humanity intersecting throughout the film. (God knows what else they're crossing there, I can only guess.) I'll admit that it's nicely drawn, but it still didn't grab me. Looks like I won't be a fan of mecha anime... Seen with Czech dubbing.
