What should have been just another night on the job turns into a desperate fight for survival for three friends when the inmates of a high security asylum break free from their cells.
Rock musicians George, Max and Ricky work in the kitchen at the local asylum to make ends meet - the pay is good and they're at minimal risk, having no direct contact with the inmates. One night, just before dinner time, a storm shuts down the security system and the doors to all the cells open, letting the lunatics loose. Outnumbered and almost defenseless in the dark, the trio must find a way to survive until help arrives. A nerve-shattering thriller, Asylum Blackout is a terrifying plunge into darkness where the things that go bump in the night become a very real threat.

It’s okay to watch once. Well made, atmospheric, the corridors of a mental hospital have their charm and the psychopaths in the end are really good. I’m not jumping in joy, but I’m sure there are people who will be very satisfied with this film.

El motivo de un corte de la corriente en un manicomio es un terreno sólido para un thriller de terror, especialmente cuando se pone manos a la obra un guionista competente como S. Craig Zahler. Por desgracia, probablemente no tuvo la última palabra sobre el guion, o estaba practicando su estilo, porque está muy inacabada y al final es bastante caótica, sin personajes ni diálogos interesantes, que suele ser el punto fuerte de Zahler. Podría haber ido mucho mejor.
