Hace mucho tiempo, un armador casi arruinado vivía con su hijo y sus tres hijas, las egoístas Félicie y Adélaïde y la dulce Bella, a quien sus hermanas hacían la vida imposible. Una tarde tormentosa su padre se pierde en el bosque y encuentra refugio en un castillo misterioso. Pero al coger una rosa del jardín para Bella, desata la ira del dueño del lugar, una criatura mitad hombre, mitad bestia. Para salvar la vida de su padre, Bella se ofrece como moneda de cambio y se traslada a vivir al castillo. Sin embargo, la bestia se revela menos horrible de lo que aparenta, enamorándose de la joven. Beauty and the Beast, or a surreal trip into the world of fantasy framed by unusual contours. The visuals are absolutely captivating. What separates this film from the maximum is the fact that Beauty can be better as a Panna.

Beautiful handling of this classic fairytale, which combines the wonderful naivety of this story with a certain cruelty that humans carry with them. But what is even more beautiful are Cocteau's images, especially the scenes in the castle, which are captivatingly imaginative and will leave you in awe. Even if you know the story, maybe in its Czech version, this old version will enchant you.
