A film about the birth of a star and the smoke screens that fill Bollywood. The starry-eyed Daanish (Dhanush) from a small village has an overwhelming passion for cinema and is determined to make it big in the industry. There is only one hurdle he is mute. He knows that his calling is just within his reach and all he needs is one chance. This obsession brings him to Mumbai where he s discovered accidentally by the assistant director Akshara (Akshara Hassan), who recognises his talent and helps him overcome his professional and personal obstacles. Amitabh Sinha (Amitabh Bachchan), an actor disillusioned by his own failures, proves to be Daanish s salvation. But a clash of egos between both men disrupts their lives.
