When a pair of great actors meet, the result simply has to be good. Or at least according to the example of this film, it would be true. Shintaro Katsu acquired a great opponent/companion for the 20th installment, none other than Toshiro Mifune. Their shared confrontations are excellent and both portray characters that you can admire.

The dynamic of the iconic Zatoichi/Yojimbo duo (different from that one, but… yes, we all know it's supposed to be the same one) is hit quite accurately à la Tuco and Blondie. For once the inspiration flows in the opposite direction from Japan, as it rides the wave of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and not in a bad, because the "spaghetti western" in a remote village for domination and some gold, which several interested parties are after, is played out excellently. The only problem is that it’s too long, it stretches out with anabases like "where is the treasure hidden" (which is painfully clear to the viewer from the first moments). The finale also left a slight bad taste. It is undeniably good, but I expected something more memorable.
