This was my first Indian film that didn't look like a more colorful version of Ein Kessel Buntes. The amount of singing and dancing was kept in check, and when it came to it, it was quite bearable. Otherwise, however, it was typical India: a great deal of pathos, slow-motion shots and performances which would put even Sandokan to shame. Despite all that, I unexpectedly enjoyed it. By the way, I didn't know anything about this bloody event, so I did some googling to find out it really took place. The Sikhs sure are tough guys.
