inglés A very decent crime drama. The environment of the Vietnamese community is an excellent refreshment for the Czech context. Ha Thanh Špetlíková is very pleasant, David Novotný is a classic redneck and together they are the perfect pair for a trip from Varnsdorf to Sapa. ()

inglés A pretty decent crime crossover film whose creators discovered that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to combine Czech and Vietnamese culture. Even though a couple of moments could have been dealt with differently, all in all, I really enjoyed the film. For instance, the scenes from the SAPA marketplace were excellent. But it’s a pity that David Novotný got to play a really terrible guy in this one. I can hardly believe that there could be such an unorthodox and wannabe just swine of a person among the police. The racist subtext didn’t really work for me. I can imagine this to be the case with another minority but not really with the Vietnamese. But I do understand that the SAPA marketplace is a different kind of world than the one inhabited by the Vietnamese in our town. ()

inglés It could have been a great film if the creators hadn't bet on a clichéd pair of characters from American films. An experienced detective (white and racist) and a newbie (member of a minority) who teaches his superior a moral lesson and possibly even gets him to do some soul-searching. It’s a shame that the film didn't turn out better. The forensic procedures in the film were ridiculous (who needs gloves, right?). What I regard positively was the likable protagonist and David Novotný’s "hairstyle." ()
