Season 1 (2020) (S01)
I didn’t even remotely expect to give the first season three stars. Until the fifth episode (including) it was going fine with occasional bumps in the road, but then the whole thing took a completely different turn and I lost all interest in it. The decent atmosphere, occasional suspense and fun were gradually replaced by boredom, teenage romance and completely illogical=stupid behavior of the characters. This disappointment was all the greater because I hadn’t seen it coming at all. Serves me right, I should have been more alert. P.S. To make things worse, I had to listen to that awful soundtrack, which I didn't deserve in the least. Or did I? 3*-

Bienvenidos a Matheson (2020) (S01E01)
While the first episode didn't exactly knock my socks off, it did manage to pique my interest. Now, I'm cautiously optimistic about the series, eager to see where this key-juggling adventure takes me. Sometimes, the simplest ideas turn out to be the most captivating. Here's hoping.

I did some digging and found out that the series is based on a comic book by Joe Hill. While I've never read his comics, I was surprised by the lack of a more intense horror atmosphere. Given Hill's reputation, I expected something more spine-chilling.

The atmosphere has totally evaporated now. It started off as a cool series, but by the sixth episode, it morphed into a cringe-worthy teenage relationship drama with a dreadful soundtrack. I half expected werewolves to start chasing vampires in the nearby forest. It was just plain bad.

Well, here we go again, just two stars, but for different reasons this time. The storyline delivered such a nonsensical plot that I found myself just staring blankly at the screen. As much as I was enjoying the season at the start, it's now got me feeling pretty down. Thankfully, there are only three episodes left. This episode was a prime example of how sometimes you've got to try to fit a square peg into a round hole to get the outcome you want.

Well, here's the thing — it's way easier for me to list what I liked because it's pretty brief. The foray into Erin's head was a hit, but the real winner was the mug's resurrection. That really amused me. Sadly, the rest of the plot followed suit with the previous episodes.

Ecos (2020) (S01E09)
Just when I thought the seventh episode hit the peak of absurdity, they managed to outdo themselves in the ninth. Logic took such a hit that I half expect to see protests in the streets with banners declaring, "Logic Matters!" But hey, if I spent most of my day gaming and scrolling through social media, maybe I'd be thrilled by this episode.

Corona de Sombras (2020) (S01E10)
I share Solverina's frustration entirely; I'm right there with her. It started off promising, but then it took a nosedive... The characters' utterly idiotic actions were topped off by that heart-wrenching moment of scattering the father's ashes. And don't even get me started on the unnecessary recap of Gabriel's scenes — it's like they think we're completely daft. Pathetic.
