I can't help but feel that it was terribly long, stretched out, with a classic soap opera layout - he loves her, she loves someone else, he loses his memory, marries someone else, she thinks he's dead, marries someone else, and then they meet to confront each other. I wasn't even amused by this in the 1946 edition.
