Sinopsis(1)

In the starving aftermath of a nuclear disaster, Leonora (Gitte Witt), Jacob (Thomas Gullestad) and their daughter Alice (Tuva Olivia Remman) are on the edge of survival. One day, the local hotel invites survivors to attend a theatre play, with a meal included, as a charitable effort to help those in need. Left with no choice, the family of three decide to go to the hotel, where the director, Mathias (Thorbjørn Harr), introduces the entire hotel as the stage. Attendees are given masks to help separate them from actors, but the play takes an eerie turn when audience members start to disappear. The line between reality and theatre quickly gets blurred, until Alice disappears in front of Leo and Jacob, and there’s no longer room for doubt: Something is very wrong with Mathias’ hotel. inglés The film has an interesting story with an original idea. It is set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, where people are running out of food and struggling to survive. A charity event is held at a local hotel where visitors get free food and can take part in a play set. Soon, however, visitors begin to mysteriously disappear. The central idea is very cool, visually Cadaver is solid and the suspense works at times, but unfortunately that’s not enough. I guessed the final twist somewhere in the middle, and while I'm glad they chose that route, it definitely needed to add to the brutality and intensity. A decent average from Norway that I don't think offends, but could have got more out of the idea. Story***, Action>No, Humor>No, Violence*, Entertainment***, Music***, Visual****, Atmosphere***, Suspense***. 5/5. ()

inglés The Norwegian movie Cadaver is definitely worth watching and will prove a breathtaking spectacle for some, maybe less experienced, viewers. It has a fairly simple subject matter used to build an emotionally powerful movie, although, to be honest, the conclusion felt a bit too much in that regard. ()
